Millwright

We currently have an opening for a Millwright to direct and coordinate activities of workers engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment, and in the maintenance of buildings and grounds. This position reports to the Plant Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair, facilities maintenance, environmental and building security issues are addressed on a timely and proactive basis
  • Conduct well scheduled preventative maintenance measures, inspections, calibrations, diagnosing to minimize any potential downtime of machinery
  • Ensure implementation and adherence to health and safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment at all times
  • Maintain all production machines to ensure maximum running efficiency and all machinery is operating without disruption
  • Ensure building and equipment are operating effectively and safely
  • Develop preventive maintenance program and ensure employees have technical training on all equipment
  • Monitor and review the performance of staff and organize necessary interventions for improvement and to maximize employee effort and time
  • Ensure efficient collaboration and co-ordination between relevant departments regarding status of machinery, updates required, problem solving, and ways to improve
  • Report to plant manager regarding staff, mechanical, improvements, safety and quality issues
  • Oversee installation, modification, and repair of complex mechanical equipment
  • Develop budget estimates for new machinery or major repair costs
  • Monitor contractors providing service to the plant
  • Perform repair and maintenance activities on a variety of mechanical and electrical equipment  as well as construction trades
  • Review production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities
  • Keep department clean and organized to maximize output
  • Ensure all company policies and procedures are being followed by staff
  • Order parts as required for the maintenance of machines and troubleshoot bottlenecks at machine centers
  • Attend all required meetings with plant manager/staff (i.e. safety, production, maintenance, staff)

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • A degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering or electrical engineering
  • 8+ years of experience in a maintenance manager role related to a large plant
  • Prior background experience in machinery related to panel line production, CNC machinery, truss tables, and nail guns, and urban welding equipment
  • Background in replacing components of adjusting, diagnosing, overhauling, and reassembling complicated systems on strict timelines
  • Knowledge of a wide range of operating principles, procedures, and techniques required to maintain, adjust (within very precise tolerances), modify and repair equipment
  • Knowledge to interpret schematics, blueprints, shop mathematics, and diagrams as applied to machine alignment
  • Strong knowledge of CNC machinery and PLC.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety standards and compliance
  • Ability to create and maintain a preventative maintenance system and calibration schedule
